Dr. Klent Brown

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been practicing veterinary medicine in southern Indiana since graduating in May of 2000. He is married to Dr. Kim Brown who works as a veterinarian at their Bedford location. Klent and Kim also own a veterinary clinic in Scottsburg, IN. Dr. Brown believes that it is education of staff and clients coupled with solid customer service that makes their veterinary clinics unique.

Klent and Kim have 5 children and multiple pets. Their oldest daughter is Cora, followed by twin boys, Porter and Oliver. Their 2 youngest girls are Avery and Charli. Klent and his family attend the St. Vincent Catholic church in Bedford.

Klent has a strong interest in the business aspects of veterinary medicine, as well as, client and staff education. Hobbies outside of work include working on their farm with their Registered Angus cattle, playing with his children, and hunting.

Dr. Kim Brown

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Williamsport, IN, and has been practicing veterinary medicine in southern, Indiana since graduating in May of 2003. Dr. Kim works at the clinic located in Bedford, IN. She married Dr. Klent Brown in 2001 and they have 5 children who attend school in Bedford. Klent and Kim also own a veterinary clinic in Scottsburg, IN.

Kim has 3 dogs, Sammy, Scooter, and Brave. She also has 6 Cats and 6 Horses, including her 34-year-old show horse Joe from her 4-H days. Kim and her family attend the St. Vincent Catholic church in Bedford.

Kim has a strong interest in both medicine and surgery and enjoys educating clients about their pet’s needs. Hobbies outside of work include spending time with her animals, helping at the school and church, and spending time at their children’s school and sports functions.

Dr. Mercedes Kruse

Dr. Kruse grew up in Bedford, Indiana and attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky for her undergraduate studies. She received her Bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a focus in animal science. She was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies and completed her clinical year at Purdue University in January of 2022.

Her first year out of veterinary school, she worked with Dr. Haley in Lebanon, Tennessee to pursue her interest in exotic animal medicine. Following her first year, she completed a summer internship at Avian and Exotic Center of Nashville under Dr. Ray, a board certified exotic animal specialist. She continues to pursue her dream of obtaining her board certification in exotic mammal medicine through conferences and continued education.

Dr. Kruse used to work as a veterinary assistant at the Animal Hospital of Bedford during her breaks in college and has planned to return to Bedford as a veterinarian since obtaining her degree. She has owned a variety of exotic animals over the years including rabbits, rats, mice, and gerbils. She currently has three ferrets, one dog, and one horse. Dr. Kruse has a strong interest in medicine, surgery, and husbandry in regards to a variety of species. She also enjoys client education and improving the lives of animals. Hobbies outside of work include horseback riding, spending time with her pets, reading, drawing, and painting.
